AUTHOR CONCLUSIONS

In subjects with lipoatrophy, switching a tNRTI to tenofovir for 48 weeks led to increases in limb fat and fat mitochondria; RNA levels, and a large decrease in hip BMD.

Uridine supplementation in the form of NucleomaxX improved mitochondrial RNA levels, but worsened fat mtDNA and did not change limb fat.

Wile TDF-switch did not change inflammation markers, the use of NucleomaxX led to lage increases in several of the inflammation markers. The etiology of this observation is unclear but it is concerning.
