"In an autopsy study of 5 HIV-infected individuals (abstract 373), integrated HIV DNA was found in kidney and brain tissue, supporting a hypothesized role of local HIV infection in the pathogenesis of both neurocognitive impairment and CKD, and providing further evidence that these non-lymphoid tissues may serve as latent HIV reservoirs."
