From jules: So in talking with Doug Richman here at CROI he is convincing and convinced that there is no other explanation except that this baby was cured. The half life of the virus in the baby if it was the mothers he says would be such that it would have lasted only a few days and so the slow incremental decrease in virus on ARTs would not have been like that, he says the virus would have disappeared before starting ARTs based on the half life of the virus if it was the mothers, they are planning followup to look for adults who have been treated in acute infection to do lab tests to evaluate whether these inviduals may have been cured like looking for DNA to see if stopping HAART may be worth trying
