In conclusion, we found that only 36% - just over 1/3 - of those with diagnosed OUD were tested for HCV, and of those, 11% were HCV seropositive - a substantial proportion. To our knowledge, this is the first study of HCV testing isolating youth 13-21 years old in a large, diverse outpatient sample in the US. Furthermore, only 11% of those HCV-tested were also screened for HIV. Amidst the current opioid crisis, these data could have significant implications for feasibility of reaching HCV and HIV elimination goals and could provide valuable data for policy makers and clinic directors in improving testing in this population.
