epigenetic aging was associated with whole brain grey matter volume as well alterations in with white matter structure. For the white matter the aging was associated with less fractional anisotropy…..or directionality of the white matter tracts, and was also associated with decreased diffusivity of the white matter, which is something that lessens white matter structural integrity. Its thought that the grey matter alterations may be due to disruptions in efficient grey matter pruning in this young cohort. And the white matter results are something seen in the case in systemic inflammation.
