THE GLOBAL AND REGIONAL BURDEN OF LIVER DISEASE, 2013: deaths due to HCV doubled from 1990 to 2013
"Between 1990---2013, deaths due to HCV more than doubled.....liver cancer deaths due to HCV increased 300%.....deaths due to HBV increased by one third.....
Coordinated, systematic and appropriately funded responses to HIV, TB and malaria have resulted in steadily falling numbers of deaths due to these conditions in recent years....Similar approaches to liver disease exemplified by the WHO Framework for Global Action on viral hepatitis are urgently required, with viral hepatitis deaths now estimated to exceeding those caused by HIV/AIDS globally1,4"
