"........Beyond accelerating morbidity and mortality, HIV-related stigma creates disruption and significant social suffering affecting, and constraining, the everyday lives, opportunities, and social relationships of people with HIV infection......People come to understand their illness by talking about it, as well as experiencing it, which is constrained with HIV infection. It is important to explore the role of the health care provider in providing support for patients who experience stigma and social suffering, potential effects of the social disease of HIV."
