from Jules: study reports: "Overall life expectancy at age 20 years of HIV-positive individuals increased from 20.8 years in the dual therapy era to 54.9 years in the most recent cART era (Table 1)." of note: in Table 1 you will see the vast reductions in life expectancy for smokers and for IDUs: for current smokers there is a 10-year reduced life expectancy, and 5 years for former smokers compared to those that never smoked; of particular note, for current IDUs life expectancy is reduced by 25 years compared to those who never used injection drugs, but even more noteworthy is that for former IDUs life expectancy is reduced 18 years compared to those who never used IDs.
