Older Age Associated with both Adherence and
Renal Decline in the PrEP Demo Project

"Overall, eGFR (kidney function) declined by mean -3.2% (range -3.7 to +680 over 48 weeks (insistent with other studies....[older age is associated with better adherence & better adherence which is required to prevent HIV infection, can lead to greater decline in kidney function as measured by eGFR) Median age 34 (range 19-65) years; 99% MSM; 71% reported condomless receptive anal sex in past 3 months; 60% reported recreational drug use (13% amphetamine) in last 3 months (Table 1) - 82% (718) of person-visits demonstrated hair levels (≥0.023 ng/mg) consistent with "good adherence" (≥4 doses/wk14,15) "..... condomless sex & amphetamine use are associated with better adherence, see Table 2 below
