Dear Dr. Chung,

I would appreciate your comments on my case please. I am a 46 year old very slender female in excellent health other than my Hepatitis C. I had minimal fibrosis and mild inflammation on my biopsy. I am a geno-type 1A, started on Peg-Riba combo with a 550,000 IU viral load on Oct. 26, 2001. I am just coming up to my 24 week PCR test and would like to know what my chances are now, assuming I have a non detectable viral load as it was at 12 weeks? My doctor told me my chances of a SVR at the start of treatment were around 48% but now that I am responding I would hope those figures are going up? Thanking you in advance for your response.

Thank you,

Based on data from the PEGASYS + Riba trial, if you cleared at week 12, your chances of a sustained response rose to 65%; however, this was not divided among genotypes, but your response clearly implies that you have moved into a better category.
