I have been in a study for seven months taking pegalated interferon and ribaviron. I tested negative at 12 and 24 weeks. When I finish the 48 weeks, my doctor wants me to remain on interferon alone, for another 3 months, to make sure that the virus does not come back. Is there any clear advantage to this? It has been a difficul time for me and I have had many problems. I hate the thought of another 3 months unless it is absolutely necessary. I would like your opinion.
 

I don't see evidence for the advantage of that approach.
