Hi! Could you please tell me if long term hepatitis{32years} can some how cause severe depression or some kind of disturbance in the emotions and brain. I am not depressed or angry ar fearful of having the hepc. Also I wondered of maybe taking interferon or ribivarin may cause some damage to a persons emotions. Especially the interferon which I was on for a year. I feel like part of my personality and emotions are gone. Have you ever heard of this?????????
 

Some data suggests that there may be neuropsychiatric changes with HCV infection itself. some people described lingering mood effects after treatment completion, however, if the virus did not respond and is still present, it will be difficult to sort out the possibilities. if your liver disease is not so advanced, it may be worth waiting for therapies other than interferon to arrive (in the next several years).
