I am a 28 year old female who is infected with Hepatitis C. I have
undergone
peg-intron therapy for a year, then after not respondig, I took six months
off of medications. I then started one year therapy of Pegalated
Interferon.
Next month marks one year of therapy of Pegalated Interferon. My viral
level fluctates, but from what my doctor says, it is relatively at a low
level. I would like to discontinue using treatment as I feel it is not
doing
what it's supposed to. My questions are:
1. What are the probabilities of me having a baby (in the future) who is
infected with the hepatitis c virus?
[Chung, Raymond T.,M.D.] the risk of infection to a child is very low (<5%)
2. Do you forsee any other forms of treatment in the next year or two?
[Chung, Raymond T.,M.D.] probably more like 3-4 years, so the future is quite
encouraging.
Thank you.
