About Hepatitis E and G
Could you please tell me more about Hep E/G. How contagious? Transmission? Treatment, if any. etc.
Thank you.
Dr.Chung writes--
Hep E is like Hep A, but not seen in the United States. It is contracted from food or water, and is typically found in Central and Latin America and portions of Asia and Africa, so unless you are traveling in these areas it will not be an issue.
Hep G is really not a hepatitis and does not cause liver disease, to the best of our estimates. We do not look for it, since we do not believe it is clinically important. RC
