Ask Your Questions About-HCV! of our Hepatitis Experts:
Am I cured?
Dear Dr. Chung,
I have been off therapy for 2 years now and my latest PCR test shows that I am still undetectable <600 vicrons. Does this mean that I am cured, or should I follow up with a PCR test every year? Thanks in advance,
--S.
answer from Dr Chung:
The data strongly suggest that a sustained response is sustained indefinitely (>95% of cases) - so the longterm outlook for cure is excellent. I would suggest annual PCR for another 3 years, and then you could back off the interval thereafter. RC
