What do grading and staging mean in correlation with Hep C?
Dr. Chung,
My question is : Can you please tell me or show me were I can find a list of how the gradings and staging go with Hep C and cirrhosis?? I live in Canada and my husband has Hep C and cirrhosis grade 4 stage 4... I just like to have the info for myself..... Thank you in advance...

answer from Dr Chung:
Grading refers to the degree of inflammation in the liver (0-4, with 4 being the highest or worst). Staging refers to the extent of scarring or fibrosis (0-4, with 4 representing most advanced, namely, cirrhosis). Both are used to help make decisions regarding treatment and prognosis. RC
