The Office of the Medical Director, New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, is pleased to announce that "Drug-Drug Interactions between HAART, Medications Used in Substance Use Treatment, and Recreational Drugs" is now available on the web. This chapter was developed by the Committee for the Care of the HIV-Infected Substance User.
 
This chapter includes the following:
 
- explanation of the mechanisms of drug metabolism and potential interactions
 
- drug interactions between HAART (and HIV-related drugs) and methadone or buprenorphine (see Appendix B)
 
- drug interactions between HAART and recreational drugs (see Appendix C)
 
- drug interactions between HAART and psychotropics (see Appendix D)
