New Law - New York State Requires All Persons > 18 & < 18 with a Risk Be Offered HCV Screening. Plus, NYS Requires providers Caring for Pregnant People to Order a HCV Screening Test During Pregnancy and Pregnant persons with a detectable hepatitis C ribonucleic acid test are offered follow-up hepatitis C health care and treatment or are referred to a health care provider who can provide follow-up hepatitis C health care and treatment. - see NYS Letter below.  
do they have increased or adequate funding to implement all this? Jules Levin, NATAP. i think increased funding fro NYS is needed. Certainly a funded National Plan like the White House Elimination Proposal, which has been sitting in the offices of Sen Cassidy & Sen Van Hollen for months now. Apparently their offices said they were waiting for the CBO report on whether the project would be cost neutral before submitting their plan to Congress for a vote. Just last week the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) released a paper stating their positions, but the paper requested a lot of information saying a plan could save money but they need a lot more information. we are waiting fr responses from the Senators to see if they will proceed, I dont think they have sad anything.

And just last week the FDA approved the first HCV point-of-care HCV test, allowing for test results in about 1 hour from the test, which many say will have major impact on improving linkage-to-care & treatment became may IDUs who do a test simply do not return and are lost, its difficult to keep them in the "cascade-of-care".
